I started karate when i was 10, and when i was there I remember seeing all different age groups, from 7 up to people in there 40's and 50's. They should pare you up with some one of the same age or size of you, plus i love karate i would recommend to anyone.

Its really never to late to start karate, they do have different age groups you can join or you can even take a private class by your self but it would depend on the owner and how he runs things.

you won't most scool would have a kid class and an (mostly 5-12)
adult class(13 or 15 and up) i started doing MA in the U.S when i was 15 and i'm 17 now and still at it XD
and since you are in teen age you should try look for true karate school and not a mcdojo
