Judo is an excellent martial art. The throws in it are very good.

Karate and jiu jitsu are one of the best imo. They contain throws, killing blows, holds, kicks, punches, multi target, etc etc

But the real power lies within yourself. If you suck at martial arts understanding/feeling no single martial art will be effective in your hands

Wrestling.. but it's fake ;-)

Yes, that is the worst fake shit the world has to offer.

Yes. It's tried to go back to the original roots of martial arts by being oh so realistic. It's like a straw basket compaired to the modern day bucket... it holds no water.

I came to this thread a little late but I only recently joined, so...forgiveness? ^^;

I don't really think there is a "best" martial art, just really what your own personal preference is and how well you can adapt to it. There is only one rule when it comes to a fight and that is to survive.

I read a few of the more recent posts and see that people give some pretty detailed advice. Personally, I checked out a few schools, contacted a couple, and only a little over a year ago started my martial art (a style of Wing Chun). I wasn't getting the right vibe from the others, nor did they say things I agreed with (on the phone or on their websites).

If the style reflects that of your own beliefs and wishes, you will learn much quicker and will adapt well (granted you have a well instructed Sifu/Sensei/Teacher).

Best martial art on what criteria? What you intend to gain : just cool-lookiness or true combat skills?
If you wanna be a true fighter, go to any master of ultimate street fighting.
If you are looking for a pure art, go study some style of Kung-Fu.
