Karate VS Judo in Japan

Rumour says that in Japan, Judo is much more popular rather than Karate. Does this rumour true anyway? I wonder what makes judo is more popular in Japan itself rather than karate, besides the judo's status as the Olympic sport, along with taekwondo...

i'm guessing because karate originated from china...

Taekwondo has become more of a sports than a martial arts discipline (around 50%-50%).

Interesting, I would like to know wich one is more popular.
Here, as Jyû-jutsu practitioner, I confess Judo is much more familiar to me.
I know about the great masters like Jigoro Kano and the strongest Masahiko Kimura (the master that teached to Helio Gracie an humbleness lesson).
I barely know Karate Shotokan and Kyokushin.
Please, wich one is more popular in Japan?
