Is there a remake for Final Fantasy 7

I have heard rumors that square enix was going to make a remake to FF7 and then i heard some that there are not going to. Does anyone know if they are going to.

Dainichi 09-11-2008 02:21 PM

No. Now go die.

Tyrien 09-11-2008 02:22 PM

Lol.

No Square has said several times that they do not have the available man power to take on the project as they are all tied up in other projects. That MAYBE it will be considered once they are free.

So so.

animelover32 09-11-2008 10:26 PM

It's still up in the air, Enix wants the orignal creators to work on it and need to wait for their scheduals to clear up. Hopefully in the near future we'll get a remake. After all they seem to be remaking all the others.

A remake. If they were going to release it as a PS1 classic on PSN it would have been done by now.

Merisa 09-13-2008 12:33 PM

Remake of FF7?

You gotta be kidding me..
Thats impossible

The whole story of FF7 is in parts.

For example
Dirge of Cerberus
Crisis Core..

They're all part of FF7 .
only the orginal game Final Fantasy 7 is only on ps1.. I think i have that game somewhere XD

I guess they thought that was implied.

I think 7 gets too much attention. I'd rather see a remake of 6.

lulu 09-28-2008 12:27 PM

I heard that there IS gonna be a remake of FFVII for the PS3. Same goes for VIII. I'm not so sure...

Gettersaga 10-08-2008 05:20 PM

Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII must again be released (and who knows when it will happen) and you are worried about remakes of 7 and 8 (I'd like to see a remake of FF 8 though). If I had to say "FF7/FF8's remakes will exit in the year 20XX ..." I'd start to fear they'll be released for PS4/XBox 720.

They are going to release a blue ray disc of final fantasy seven this year or next year with deleted scenes and stuff, as for square enix they won't be releasing any stuff for final fantasy cuz they sold final fantasy to microsoft and not it final fantasy thirteen will be for the x-box 360, but there is a new game for the psp that's called final fantasy dissidia that is available in japan right now.:D

They didn't sell ALL of it.

Square only "sold" half of it, thus FFXIII coming out on the Xbox 360. However, Square knows the compatibilities of the PS3 and the 360 cannot keep up to the same graphics as the PS3. Thus Square is keeping half on Xbox 360 and the other half on Sony. In sony, they can out as much effort into the game and the graphics as they can, whereas, the Final Fantasy fans on Xbox 360 get a chance at playing the new Final Fantasy game aswell.

Profit on both sides.

Amathev 10-08-2008 07:29 PM

Square's doing a remake for every FF game if you haven't noticed.
No way they'll miss out doing FF7 of all in the series.

XIII is going MULTIPLATFORM. There was a hugeeee nerddrama about it when it was first announced so you probably heard wrong.

No.

The game is being made on a PC dev kit then made for both PS3 and 360. This was done so Square can make more money off of the game as a whole. It has nothing to do with Microsoft "buying" final fantasy, or the capabiities of either system. It's Square maximizing their profits.

VS XIII is remaining PS3 exclusive (or so it's being said by Square). There's a few theories as to why this was done. Some say that MS bought multiplat rights to XIII, others say that Tetsuya Nomura (the director of FFVSXIII, FFXIII has a different director) will not allow VSXIII to go multi and holds too much weight in Square to simply be overthrown. Exactly why hasn't been said though, just that VSXIII will remain PS3 exclusive.

Final Fantasy 3 and 4 for the NDS.
So yeah, a long wait left 'til 7.

Tyrien 10-08-2008 08:00 PM

Not sure if it counts as a remake or not but there's 1+2 on PSP. 6 was done on GBA as well. Not sure if anything was done with 5 or not.

don't forget Tactics: War of the lions, main reason I got a PSP. then they announced DISSIDIA, so it all kind of worked out.

Even FF 5 has been made (released) for GBA and I wouldn't be much surprised if a remake for DS (DSi?) will be released in the future. Anyway in the second half of this december will be released Final Fantasy Dissidia on Psp and it seems well done (looking at the various promotion videos) but the game system seems really complicated to me. A mix between fighting genre and action RPG, every time I look at it, well I think "It's really beautiful" but immediately I think "How do you control your character in this game? The cameras are too fast" and so on.

Roroshi 02-24-2009 10:31 AM

Well I see a remake like this. They have done 1-6 already so logically the next remake should be 7 or 8 (if they want to be artistic and mix it up). But most likely they will be on the PSP because all the other ones are on portable systems. Eventhough I love LOVE to see both of the games on the PS3.

I don't see how they could release it on the PSP.

The original FF7 used 3 CD's and FF8 used 4.

Anyway I can understand them remaking them up to 6 to sort of retell those stories using the techniques from 7 onward.

But I don't think 7 (or 8 and 9) should be remade and I doubt they will be as FF7 was the first of the "cinematic" Final Fantasy games.

There is a very simple reply to this;
Better video and data compression, combined with the space of a UMD.

The compression rate for video on the PS1 was horrible. Audio, textures, etc - almost as bad. A UMD can hold 1.6GB (Or was if 1.7? I forget, somewhere about that.), so right there you`ve got enough space to hold all of it. And that is without even changing the compression as textures, models, audio, etc are duplicated on every disc. I believe that with 7, there was only 800MB of original game data to begin with. The rest was video and duplicated data.

I don`t imagine 8 is all that different.

It`s completely doable, with little difficulty. Will they? Probably in some form or another, as the seem to want to leech every possible bit of money they can out of 7.

They could shrink PS3 Blu-Ray games to work on XBox 360 DVD format, let alone that...

Yuna7780 02-25-2009 02:50 AM

Who wants to make a bet on how many 360 disks there will be for FFXIII?

As for FFVII remake. I'm sure within the next 50-10 years they'll make a remake. You just KNOW IT. If it were to happen, I'd cry. I've never really been attached to FFVII, but I recently beat CC on the PSP, and I'm playing/watching everything in order. So, I'm sort of wanting a remake of FFVII because it hurts my eyes after I play for a while. lol
