PSP-2 Concept Design

I have to say, this would be the single most bad-ass thing ever if it were the official design... I would sell my soul, which wouldn't be enough, to buy it...

What are your thoughts on this sexy-ass concept design for the PSP-2?

DVICE: Outlandish Sony PSP2 design flaunts flexible OLED screen

Nyororin 10-25-2008 02:51 AM

That design, while it may look cool, would be absolutely awful to hold. No matter how rigid the screen became when extended, it would be horrific on your hands - holding the little bar and balancing it.

No thank you. :P

UrikosRandomStalker 10-25-2008 03:19 AM

i'll have to agree with nyo. the design wouldn't be very comfortable to play with

Yuna7780 10-25-2008 04:07 AM

It's looks REALLY awesome, but I think it'd be hard to handle at first. I'd have to get used to it, but I like it. :D

XjapanFOREVER 10-25-2008 06:11 PM

Yea, it would be hard to play, at least until you get used to it..

But that doesn't mean it looks any less sexy

Uriko 10-25-2008 06:23 PM

i want. :3

lol. i remember that image. that was like the only thing close to a real-life concept

XjapanFOREVER 10-25-2008 06:25 PM

lol.... taht would be super-badass....

To be honest that's completely plausible..... of course there wouldn't be the iPhone menu, but a flip-up screen with a key-board would be possible.. and maybe a little more realistic than the OLED screen... just a little.

Yuna7780 10-25-2008 06:25 PM

Uriko. That's beautiful. *tears of joy*

If it was a floppy screen like that then it'd probably break within 3 seconds if it belonged to me >.< Plus it'd be well hard to play that.

That's why durability is high on my list of important stuff!

Does look nice though :D Just impractical.

Got to agree with you there, that thing looks like it would break hella easy lol but it looks awesome! Looks like a high tech scroll or something.

UrikosRandomStalker 10-25-2008 06:33 PM

sony released a while ago a LCD screen that can bend like that. that's why it's able to bend. it would eventually stop bending by itself, so if you went farther than that, then your mom never taught you that if it stops, don't make it go further.

....or maybe that's just what asian moms say >_<

Yuna7780 10-25-2008 06:37 PM

The bendable design was created with the whole idea in mind that it wouldn't break to easily.

My only question is: How would you play games with it? Would the games be a little chip or something you put into the PSP2; or do you have to download games and stuff?

yeah didn't think about the UMB holder. good job on being the first to notice that. :)

Well in theory, if it is a bendable screen it will either bend until a point where the screen snaps into place, therefore making it rigid so you can play it. So it could snap easily if it's like that. If it doesn't become rigid at some point, then it's floppy and it'd be hard to look at the screen and keep it in place.

it'd probably be a blu-ray chip... hold a lot of data in a little tiny chip...lol

even though blu-ray is a laser name has nothing to do with chips, that still sounds cool. lol

Tyrien 10-25-2008 07:19 PM

Looks horrible.
Too fragile.
Too awkward to control.

It's a neat idea, and the only thing it has going for it is the flexible OLED screen. That would drive the cost up considerably more than a PSP should ever cost. Currently an 11" OLED TV that DOESNT bend is over $2000.00 USD. No thanks.

I know, the laser is just finer than the traditional red-laser.
It was just supposed to be a witty comment..

i liked it. it adds humor :)

It may not be impossible, because there are some paper thin screens in testing, so that type of console may be closer then you think, but in that format no way, it would be a bitch to play it and those screens don't look wallet friendly once they broke, so it would be a good idea to protect them better... But with a different design it may convince me...
