Because I play only a game (scenario) my favorite hero/game character is Obsidian Destroyer from Dota ,warcraft3 scenario.

I'd have to say either cloud or zidane simply for character depth, cant help but love every character from both 7 and 9 simply because you can tell the amount of work that has went into their back story and their personality apart from a few offcourse (for example quina who is just all round funny) but I'd think cloud and zidane has the most intense moments in game history (might be a little over the top haha) with zidane giving up on everything and cloud blaming himself, but both coming through the other end to try and save the day :P reminds about how newer games have ruined the whole cinematic thing...such as ff13 were its alot of cut scenes they look impressive but because of the whole lack of dialogue to make you emotionally invested in what happens to a character...just fails :P

and on a lighter note cant get the bonanza bros laugh out of my head and its been 14 years since i first played it haha

My favourite character has always been Sonic from an early age. I also love Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue.

Mario games and introduced me pacman.their gaming.and when you think about video games you should consider one.

That's a tough one!
I don't really have like an all time favourite character, but one of my favourites right now is Jecht from FFX. I think it's because I've been playing a lot of FF lately (I'm about to kick Kefka's ass in FFVI!), and for some reason I've always liked Jecht. I really think he's a nice guy deep down, and his tattoo is pure awesomesauce!

Another character that I like a lot is Milia Rage from the Guilty Gear series (been playing GGX2 #Reload like 24/7 the past couple of days). I love her fighting style, she looks great, and.. I don't know.. The darkness, sadness and hate that you experience when you play her story modes makes her a really interesting character in my opinion.
