hi guys.. i live in the philipppines... (and i'm proud of it!) i want to learn japanese... please help me.. in exchange i can help you wth your english or even help you speak tagalog/ filipino

Right now I'm using some books. I've only been studying about a week, so I don't know how effective they will be.

The first one is called "Read & Speak Japanese for Beginners" by Jane Wightwick. It comes with an audio CD and some flash cards. It's good, but sometimes on the CD they try to teach you a phrase that isn't found in the book. The ISBN number is 0-07-141221-2

Also, there is a free (they want you to order the advanced set, but the subscription is free) email lesson where they teach you some basic everyday phrases. It is found here:

Learn to speak Japanese like a Rocket with Rocket Japanese Premium

The free email subscription is found about a third of the way down the page. Even though it says it's a six day course, I think they've sent me about 30. I haven't kept up with it, so maybe I can't actually use past day 6.
