Career Plans in Japan
I'm a Freshman in college and am currently planning to earn a Bachelors Degree in Business Marketing from CSUN (California State University, Northridge). I would then like to move to Japan or gain work experience in USA, then move to Japan. Can anybody give me information about Marketing positions in Japan for somebody from the USA? Salary, hire-ability, work hours and etc.

People that are currently stationed in Japan or a native Japanese person can probably suggest a better site. But for starters, you can look for various kind of jobs at gaijinpot.com, you can find out what kind of qualification and salary you are looking at

Do you mean working for an American company with customers in Japan? That's the only way I could see something happening...

Hello!
I am new to the forum, but I have been living in Japan for a few years. There are actually a bunch of websites where you can find marketing positions. A few exemples may be CareerCross Robert Walters Wall Street Associates CareerCross is the biggest in bilingual offers. The point is often the level of experience and the level of Japanese language. It may be better to have a little professional experience in the USA before coming in Japan. |
Never mind; I have decided to major in Business Finance instead of Business Marketing. I'm planning to be an Investment Banker. I will work for an international company, such as Goldman Sachs and get transfered to their Japan location.

Companies like Barclay's Capital and GE Capital are hiring new grads like crazy.
Now is the best time to get a finance job in Japan so you better hurry up and not waste your time. If you are attending CSU schools, make sure that you figure out what to take for your Segment III and pass Junior Level English Test. Good luck!! |
