Move to Japan for a year
I would like to move to Japan maybe for a year or for a half.
I'm 18 years old, live in Europe, have an English language exam and I have one more year in the High-school. Add to it, I have been learning japanese language for about 5 months. What kind of opportunities could I have live in Japan or travel there? If you have any ideas, please write me.:ywave: Arigato gosaimasu :) |
get in as a student.. that is your best option other than being a tourist..

Start at an university that you know have exchange programs with japanese universities. Probably you will have to study atleast a year at your home univ. before going on exchange.
Then write a _good_ application and go. It's as simple as that :) |
You could do an international college as well. I know Tokyo has some. For standard Japanese universities, I believe JPLT2 is required.

Depending on where in Europe you live, there are some countries wich can get a Working Holiday Visa to Japan wich will let you stay in the country for 1 year and you would be able to work.
The homepage says: Only for Working Holiday Makers from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Korea, France, Germany, the U.K, Ireland and Denmark so if you have the passport of one of this countrys you can get the Visa. If not you will have to try another way. Working Holiday / Japan Association for Working Holiday Makers |
Thanks for the ideas and advices.
I guess I have to start my uni here, at home and then I could find a way to move. |
Thats what I am going to do. I just started college at a community college, I am going to be there for 2 years before I transfer to a 4 year school, but I am going to do a study abroad program and spend a academic year in Japan going to school. I might wait to I finished my first year at a 4 year school so I can get into a good study abroad program. most the 4 year school I have looked into require 10+ weeks study/research abroad for a International Studies Degree, which I am going to major in.
