More countries are involved in WHV program.

And the length of stay differs among member countries due to both immigration and labor situations in host countries.

Sounds like he can make a lot more money at home. Might as well come to Japan for vacation.

yes, i think he just wanted to be able to go over for a while without spending all the money he has saved. so thats why he was interested in working there.

and yes he makes alot of money its crazy, and thats for domestic.. you wouldnt believe what commercial builders are making.... you literally wouldnt believe it.

new question!

If Tom still wanted to go to Japan for a while and work what sort of job opportunities would he have? working in a Gaijin Bar?

he didnt finish highschool and his cert 3 is the only sort of qualification he has

and it looks like the carpentry thing wont work out for him over there

Dude, if it's not just for being a carpenter, why doesn't he just go there on a working holiday visa and teach english?

because he didnt finish highschool...?

his apprenticeship took 4 years (same as a bachelors degree) but i dont know if it would count as a degree.. do you?

and you can actually get a carpentry cert 3 through uni.... but he didnt do it that way..

thats why he was seeing if he could work as a carpenter over there because basically he thought (me too) that thats all his qualified for

I don't think he needs a degree to get some job to get by whilst there on a WHV. English teacher should be fine, atleast I knew a Canadian dude who was there on a WHV and worked with teaching english, and he had no degree. Maybe he can't join JET though...

do you think it would be hard for him to get a job as a teacher without going through something like JET?

thx for the help btw unfortunately i dont know any of this stuff either so im learning while get info for tom :)
