So you have a 4-year-degree?

That's the first question almost every employer in Japan will want to know (and some, the only question).

Sorry mate I have a 3 year HND in Photography design & Print and yes i passed.

Hi Andy,

Hmmm, where to start. It's a good question. One place to take a look see is Jobs in Japan

This is where a lot of jobs get advertised - select the industry it/design/media and see what comes up. A lot of this is about contacts and unfortunately I'm not in your industry. Some of the magazines here could be good starting query points - there's one called Metropolis and called Weekender.

There's also a group called DesignFesta - they are definitely worth checking out I reckon.

As to the 4 year degree - it's required if you are going into something like English teaching but if you have experience plus a specific skill that is sought after then I know people who have been fine with the 3 year qualification.

Sorry I can't be more help - but I would definitely contact DesignFesta and see if they have any suggestions.

All the best - Honor

Ditto on what uktokyoite said. You've got the experience along with the schooling so you should be okay.

I was wondering, have you ever done any web designing? I've seen job postings for web designers. Sorry, I'm an IT guy so I don't know much about photography.

Thanks guys, yes i have done web design, BUT just conceptual work as in just the design. I built my own site media73 - Corporate Videos - Web Video - Leeds Based but i am sure to a proper web developer it will be shockingingly bad code wise.

Best way to make contacts is to either make friends with people in Japan that work in your industry or just come to Japan and start knocking on doors.
