Working in the construction industry?

Hi people! I was just playing a bit with the thought of working in the construction industry, preferably in Osaka. I know there are allot of various types of professions in this industry, but I always hear people working as teachers and so on, so maybe there is a need for construction workers in Japan as well as in other countries?

I have many years experience in this industry and is a educated roofer, or yaneya (spelled right?) as it is called in Japan hehe :D

But a Japanese roofer is not the same as the ones here in Norway I think and my language skill in Japanese is so so (working on it). There are many foreigners working here in Norway and most of them have a very limited English skill and are mostly assistants for people like me or just hired to do simple work where there is need for some muscle power haha! So I was thinking of something similar for me but in Japan.

Well if anyone knows anything about this please let me know ok?

Thanks for reading! :vsign:

I am not an expert in this area, but I would imagine that construction site MAY hire an english speaking engineer or project manager if the project is like a gian project for Hotels and stuff, but otherwise, there is no reason why they would want to hire you instead of a local experienced worker. The other thing you have to remember is that, people at the site will have difficulties communicating with you, so its my guess that their preference will be to hire someone local

I Actually made a thread for my mate Tom who was wondering about being a Carpenter in Japan. His just finished his Apprenticeship. Anyway i got a really good reply from a JF user who has a husband who works as a builder over there and she basically said that if your qualified it wont be impossible to find a job over there. She said that her husband works with people from the UK and the US.

Id say itd be no differant for a Roofer. BUT. Apart from that stuff there could be structural differances. But i duno.

Hope you get a good answer.
