I recommend looking at Japanese international schools for an exchange, as if you don't know any Japanese you aren't going to get much out of school. Your best bet would be going on an exchange during college after you start studying Japanese

Talk to the international relations people at your school. I'm sure there's a Kansai Gaidai poster slapped up on a wall somewhere

Yes its a lot of fun but make sure you have an open mind. I studied abroad from September 2007 to July of 2008 and I had a blast and want to return there for a job after I graduate. Most people who studied there seemed to love it. The only ones who hated it where the socially awkward kids who had high expectations of Japan. One student in particular almost committed suicide.

So basically if you have an open mind you will enjoy it there. Hope I didn't scare you :)

yeah, i really enjoyed it too (did kansai gaidai last semester). you have to be a open-minded, not scared for a different culture and stuff, but i can't see how you cannot enjoy it. it's so great to meet people from all over the world, meet japanese people... do karaoke, go to izakaya and study japanese together.

definitly one of the best experiences in my life!
