Jet seems like the way to go but I'm really bummed out because I realized that I get my degree too late to participate for the 09 year. Apparently, the new JETs head out for Japan in the month of July which is the same month I get my degree.

So am I screwed?

I was accepted before I had my degree. As long as you are graduated before you get on the plane, you are OK.

When is the departure? The website says have your degree by July 1st, is that the same as the departure date?

There are two. It was July 7 for me, but that was in 1994.

One departure I think is in late July, and the other in earlier July. and I think (but I'm not sure), that there's even a group 3 that leaves sometime in August. I would call your consulate and ask them when the departure dates are. If anybody, they can tell you.
