True, but at least I'm showing that I'm flexible...that aside, I didn't come across any choice like "semi-urban" or "semi-rural" or "semi-suburban". Semi-urban would be the ideal, but I think I can handle rural, just as long as I'm not in an "I can get murdered and no one will discover my body until weeks later" type inaka.;)

Really, despite the slight transportation inconvenience - if you`re heading to Japan to actually be going to Japan and to learn something while you`re here... I see nothing wrong with being deep in the countryside. You`ll always be somewhere with people. There would be no need for a teacher if you were honestly somewhere without.

I`ve heard, by the way, that just as many people apply for Saitama as Tokyo. Somewhere along the line it has gained the reputation of being where to go if you want to be close but not actually in Tokyo... Which is why it seems like half of the people who`ve lived in Japan have lived in Saitama. In the end, it isn`t likely to be any better a choice than simply writing Tokyo.

I have been to Saitama and .... can't understand why anyone would want to live there....

Why is that? I don't know much about Saitama, so I'm curious.

Kind of like cities in Chiba, it didn't seem to have much personality besides being a suburb of Tokyo (which is a bit of a misnomer, but cause it was at least 45 minutes from Tokyo, if I remember right). It felt like pachinko parlor after pachinko parlor with not a whole lot else to do.

Again, this was years ago, but this impression has been confirmed by other foreigners and Japanese.

I actually have no interest what-so-ever in Saitama...just putting it down since it's my sister city. I'm actually afraid that if I get in, and keep that placement, I'll end up with it since it is my sister city. ^^;

I'm a weird one, I think I would prefer being up north in a rural or suburban setting. Odd when you think about it.

There is a much higher chance you will get it if it is your sister city, so tread carefully.

After doing some research on the city, I found a lot of things I love about it, the location is perfect, and just everything about it seems like the perfect fit for me. I chose Kobe City second because it's a city that typically gets overlooked, but it's still a cool city, close to Nishinomiya and Osaka, and it's a sister city to Philadelphia, which is my home city. I also was wondering, when it asks you what area you would like to represent, I'm wondering if I should put my actual hometown (which is in South Jersey), or Philadelphia, which most people will recognize. It doesn't say to state your exact hometown there, so I'm wondering if putting the city would be better..

I'm a Hanshin Tigers fan too. Is Nishinomiya the area where the stadium is at? If so, I have been there before because I saw a game there. I only remember there being a Daiei and LaLa Port. Is that the area I am thinking of?

Oh yeah and Philadelphia is very close to me as well.

Exactly where it is. Must have been fairly recent. LaLa Port is only a few years old.

Yup I saw a game there during May of this year.
