Thanks. Like I said, I'm not racist, it was just a question that I wanted to know the answer to, and I asked it in the best place and way I knew how. Simple as that. Racism is closed-mindedness at it's worst. I think I've got my answer, the thread has pretty much run it's course. Feel free to close........ :ywave:

I gotta skip some stuff, so i'm sorry if I repeat anything. However, in Japan, I knew a 17 year old who was in a respected private school. She asked me if there are people with purple eyes. I knew adults who graduated froma four year college with a degree in English who couldn't string together a single sentance in English.

Yeah, school in japn through high school is more difficult in Japan. But in college american's study and japanese play (I know we party in college, but it's serious study in Japan it's all play). so the gap is closed.

The above examples are to show two things. 1) Asian intelligence is human intelligence. We all have the esame approximate cranial capacity for the last 100,000 years as homo sapien sapiens. (2) Japan is affected to this day by the closed policy of the Tokugawa shogunate. The effects linger. Kids who think there are people with purple eyes and a populace who can only do things the Japanese way. I know tons of foreigners who do great in Japan. I know many people from Japan who can't do anything the American way who live here.

These things, and our own perceptions, affect the way we develope stereotypes about "asian intelligents."

p.s. to the above poster. theres nothing wrong with asking sincere questions. People will always respect your admittance of ignorance and asking for more knowledge.

Sorry, but that post wasn't directed at you...

No offense to people in the United States, but maybe because the education system in US is so easy. When i was still in the Philippines, we have to do 10 subjects for 9 hours per day. But in US, you get to choose the subjects that you want, in my school theres only 4 subjects per semester, we have 2 semesters so we will have another set of subjects by the next semester. And you only have to be in school for like 5 hours. Anyway, i prefer the american education, because it's easy yet if people from other country would know that you studied in US, you are so big time and you won't even have to look for a job because the job will be the one looking for you.

Anyway, i think that we asian people just take things seriously.

Well, a higher present of American's go to college, close the education gap. Untill the Ph. becaome a huge world power and technological leader, well, I dismiss your arguement on griuonds of reason. However, I enjoy your post.

Oh, sorry mod. Anyway, yeah, I have this friend who lives in Malaysia, and she has 11 subjects, and I almost passed out, because I'm in a regular American high school, and I only have 4 a semester, 8 total. And she has 11 WOW.
