Moving to Japan and working there is an interest simply because I enjoy exposing myself to other cultures at an extreme.

Anyone who goes to Japan will be surprised how much they learn about their own culture.

Personally I didn't think America had a real feel of tradition or generalized 'values' until I got back from Japan... now I look at things completely different.

Sure, but the same can be said about a lot of other countries. I was on a business trip to India once, I had the opportunity to visit some really really rich place of India, and some really really poor and run down area of India. Completely changed my view of value and "luxury"

So I suppose that is also a valid reason, but a decent length trip will do the job as oppose to people who want to just go work there
