Human trafficking in Japan

I'm doing a project (for school) with some friends, Human Traffic is our main topic, and we split tasks and I picked Asia to deal with.

I would like to see some reviews from you about this issue, I searched in many websites but would like to "hear" your opinion about it.

You probably have not much to say, but at least I tried, nevertheless.

Well, any info you might know, please let me know, real cases, etc.

Thanks in advance.

(I'm in a lotta work right now, otherwise I would write some introduction about this issue, sorry)

Do you mean like, people who create traffic literally, or like 'human trafficking'?

If so here's an excerpt from an article relating to the idea:

"Japan is a destination country for women and children who are trafficked from China, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and to a lesser extent Latin America for sexual and labor exploitation. Many of the trafficking victims were coerced into commercial sexual exploitation in strip clubs, sex shops, hostess bars, private video rooms, escort services, and mail-order video services."

If this isn't what you were talking about I feel real dirty.:vsign:

There's a website called HumanTrafficking.org

It has all sorts of information on trafficking from all countries, including Japan.

I have some personal experience with human trafficking. Sending you a PM.

burkhartdesu 02-20-2009 05:53 PM

Ey, send me that PM too I'm endlessly curious.

Actually, it's nothing much. Just my experience at a brothel in Osaka where nothing happened on my part. Seriously!

It's a current issue in Japan. This is an ad that is regularly in the free magazine that comes out once a week for foreigners.

Quote:

Hundreds of thousands of women and children are trafficked to and within Japan. Because of threat/manipulation, the victims of trafficking often don't realize their own situation. The following questions may help you identify trafficked victims: What type of work do you do? Are you being paid? Can you leave your job if you want to? What are your living conditions like? Do you have to ask permission to eat/sleep/use the bathroom? Has your identification been taken from you? If you think someone is a victim of human trafficking, please contact Polaris.

Human Traffic

I have a lot of experience with Human Traffic in Japan. You'll find the most in the metros like Tokyo and Osaka, especially around the stations. People will bump into you all the time because of how crowded it is and won't even say sorry, it's a lot like New York. Just get used to it an keep moving with the flow and you'll get the hang of it.

Thank you so much to all of you!
My work is going to be more complete :D

Thanks!

Keep sharing the info you know ;)
