Earn Big at Domino Pizza

1 Attachment(s)
Domino Pizza Japan has announced its latest job offer. Nothing new? No, everything is new!

One lucky persn will be paid 2,500,000 yen for working just one hour sometime this December. Domino is offerring this to commemorate its 25th anniversary in Japan. For those unfamiliar with the Japanese currency, 2.5 million yen is what many young people would earn in a year these days.

In my own not-entirely-professional analysis, Domino will be doing more than just recovering this "loss" in a matter of weeks, even days perhaps, as this unusual job offer will get the public to talk about the company. Having heard the news, I myself am already craving Domino's. :p

So if I could just get hired for an hour...

Certainly better than the Y600 or so most of them would usually earn an hour!

I love it when English teachers complain about making 250,000 yen per month for working part-time and not realizing that such a salary puts them near the top 15% of Japanese wage earners. It often takes several years of mind-numbing salaryman drudgery before a Japanese university graduate begins to earn as much. I'm sure Domino's can't print out the entry forms quickly enough.

This is the same Domino Pizza that has an average price of ¥3500 per pizza!!!!!

Let me tell our friends back home how that translates......

$43 per Pizza!!!
€31.24 per Pizza!!!
₤27.17 per Pizza!!!

While back in London I could get the same Domino Pizza for ₤14
"Pepperoni Passion®
Extra pepperoni and double mozzarella cheese on a Domino’s tomato sauce base. Large (13.5") ₤14.99"

I did have the choice of the local (non chain) Pizza shop offering large pizza (15") for about ₤7 with the added bounus on 2 for 1 before 18:00

Even Costco does a whacking great square pizza for ¥1500, for me a fair deal.

So, to this campaign. A great big SO WHAT!

I must agree the bigger name pizza chains in Japan are INSANELY overpriced. Like depressingly overpriced... hey guys lets gets some pizza! yah.. ok that will be 1500 per person.. .what?? I could eat at Outback for that....
I mean, as far as eating out goes 1500 yen is not all that terrible in Japan.. but for pizza at home split between friends.. ughh.. somehow it makes my crappy store bought pizza toast taste better though I guess.

This is so true too, and for Americans now with the exchange rate and tax brakes.. it comparably ends up being not such a bad salary these days especially for the relatively little effort and hours the job requires.

A bit off topic, but I never had the chance(?) to taste the American version of Domino.

How would you compare the Dominos in American and Japan, with regard to the taste?

[and, since we're here, according to you where are the best pizzas in Tokyo?]
