What I'm trying to say is: You're not the only one who has joined this forum with the same questions and I have the feeling some of the old-timers here had a "Oh no, not again!" moment. It is nothing personal and I know most people here are quite cool most of the time, but when a subject comes up like "wanting to move to Japan or get a job in Japan when someone doesn't really know what it entails", I think they've answered these questions quite a few times and it becomes almost annoying. I'm not trying to put words in their mouths, just trying to understand their point of view. Am I wrong here? Probably not. They are offering very good advice even if it may sound harsh or demoralizing. I hope you understand and don't harbor any ill-will.... |
It would take quite a while for me to explain why I love Japan. Even thought i haven´t visited yet. So i won´t get started on the subject.
Now regarding the replies here. I don´t want to develop/create a game. With that said, Game Designer is not the position i will be applying for. The position I´m after is an entirely different one. And yes, I am aware that one cannot simply score a job as a developer instantly. As for me learning japanese. That will be taken care of. As soon as i start college, I´l be attending japanese classes. Even in a country as small as ours, we still have people who teach All sorts of languages here. It Works Wonders. It´s obvious that they won´t hire a person that doesn´t speak japanese fluently. I was simply concerned if it was impossible, or just hard to score a job there. Even if there is only a 1% chance, i still won´t give up on it. With that said. I thank you for all of your replies =) They sure helped alot on the matter. Thanks. John. |

To answer your question honestly, they don't have an anti-foreigner policy and your chances of working in a Japanese game company (for anything other than translation and other obvious jobs where foreigners have an advantage) probably are 1%.
Even then, most translation work isn't done in Japan. A person doesn't need to be there to translate stuff. You said you want to do 3D Art? Then no Japanese company will bother with you, they already have a good amount of Japanese 3D artists. |
