Anyone applying undergrad fall 2012 entry?

As the title says, I was wondering if anyone here would be applying to any colleges in Japan as a freshman for the fall entry of 2012.

I myself am applying to Waseda SILS and Sophia FLA.
I thought it would be cool to see if anyone would be applying to college in Japan from here.

Cheers!

Are you applying as a freshman, meaning you are in high school now?

I didn't realize Waseda had a freshman program. I am more familiar with the exchange program, after a year or two of college in the US.

Waseda has the SILS program, which is a full 4 years undergrad program and that's where I'm applying to. It's still a fairly new department so it's still starting up and only about ~520 people apply there every year from across the world and around ~200 get in.

hi bb020708 !!! I'm considering applying for next fall entry as well~ My desired school is Nagoya, but I'm desperately looking for some more info about experience on English-taught degree programs... You know, I still have doubt as the idea is so new. Do you know any better T~T

There's a handful of universities in Japan that has some kind of International Department or a department whose classes are taught in English with the exception of a foreign language. The schools I'm applying to are Sophia University and Waseda University, both located in Tokyo and they both have those kinds of departments.

There's also the G30 schools, which are schools that are part of a program to promote international studies and students. Since you're already looking at schools in Nagoya, another school that's in the very general area is University of Osaka. Other colleges in the G30 program can be found at: About jump (global30) | Study abroad programs offered by leading Japanese universities | Jump.

If you want to apply for the entry of 2012 you should start asking for applications ASAP! I had to email Sophia University to request them to send me their application and deadlines for my school are in December and January! It's a pain to get everything together and not an easy process compared to the Common App for American schools.

Hi quiniyn! I guess we can go through the application process together then :) I can't wait until the actual application comes out though, I'm getting really anxious about the essay topic and whatnot. Are you from America?

Yeah that would be really great cause I don't really have any friends who are actually applying to Waseda.... I think the essay topic is the same as the one for the April admission. Nope I'm not haha.
