Becoming an English teacher in Japan.

I was considering becoming an English teacher in Japan, does anyone know what I'd have to do to accomplish this?

use the search feature on the forum; this question's been answered dozens of times over. Use that to get a general idea and then come back if you have a more specific question.

As mentioned searching the forums on here will give you as much info as you can process. Then just start doing some internet searching, and don't be afraid to look beyond the small handful of names that keep popping up.
List of English Schools and Academies in Japan | Teach English in Asia
That site lists a lot of schools you've never heard of but do you research! Some aren't even in business anymore.
Also I believe it's Jasonbvr on here has a great lengthy thread about the ins and outs of being and ALT

I've also written in various threads about my experiences. I'm pretty hard on people who have little or no experience with English beyond native usage. It's enough by the policies, but it isn't enough to last you very long and does little for your students.

The basic requirements are that you be a native-speaker, and that you possess a four year university degree. You will have to apply to a school, attend an interview at your own expense, pass a proficiency test, as well as pay for your own travel to Japan.
