Is it a good dream? Sure.

Is living in Japan good? It's like life anywhere, it has good days and bad. Personally, I enjoyed my time there, but the language barrier can make things tougher sometimes.

Would my new hoodie offend any Japanese? Inside/Outside Japan?

I highly doubt it. I think that even monks would laugh at it - if they understood it. :P

I want a japanese version for when I pop over :p

神の肉体がいる? 大仏。。?

The unfortunate thing is that even if you did translate it, it probably wouldn`t make sense... It isn`t just the language that would make it hard to "get". In Japan, Buddha isn`t known for being a big guy. In fact, in a lot of depictions he`s downright buff. :mtongue: Fasting monks just don`t get that big...

The fat guy who everyone seems to confuse with Buddha is a completely different god, Hotei - one of the 7 gods of luck.

I guess the fat jolly image of Buddha just appeals to the Western (American) World...

Buddha

Hotei

Thanks for the info!

Is there any fat gods (or maybe idols?) that we can twist this joke into? Or does the whole sarcasm thing not work in any context?

There are two different images of Buddha, I believe. One coming from China, the second coming from......India, possibly? Not completely sure of the second Buddha's orgin, but I know for a fact that there are two :mtongue:

The Chinese image of Buddha is fat, and more commonly known in the western world because....well, we tend to pick on fat people.

The second one however, is fit. Skinny, maybe not "buff" as you've said, but he's far from fat.

The Japanese are probably more familiar with the Chinese image of Buddha versus the "fit" Buddha - that's my own conclusion, so I doubt it's right O__o
