Searching for Tsutomu Ogawa

Hi all,
I met Tsutomu Ogawa (Tom) on a holiday trip in Australia 1984 !!!!!!!!!

The only thing I have from him is his old address and his age. He was 22 (1984).

His address was (1984)
1364 Tamano, Bisai-shi, Aichi-ken, 494 Japan

Perhaps somebody can provide some hints who I can get in contact with him.

Thanks a lot
Murph from Germany

The city's name where your friend live changed from "bisaishi" to "itimiyashi". I found it on wikipedia. English wikipedia site that explains "bisaishi" has not been uploaded.

(people use this site in order to find zipcode.)
http://www.post-code.jp/pc/html/23218.html

* 玉野(tamano) タマノ(tamano)
廃止(haishi)(to stop using an old name) 〒494-0013 愛知県(aichiken)尾西市(bisaishi)玉野(tamano)

運用(unyou)(to start to use a new name) 〒494-0013 愛知県(aichiken)一宮市(ichimiyashi)玉野(tamano)
)

I hope this helps you.

[Edit](I'm sorry. I edited my post in order to avoid misunderstanding.)

Do you know Ogawa_san's adress in detail?
I think if you mail to his old adress(bisai-shi), a postman will deliver your mail to his correct adress.
I think it is better to send to each adresses.

ummm......
When did you send paper letter to his old adress? It takes a certain length of time.

And when did you meet him? Japan Post Office provide a certain service. If my memory is correct, after people moved, Post Office send letters that is sent to old adress to new adress for one year if they offer. And the service can be continued if they offer.

I don't know any homepages where you can search ogawa_san. But I think there are some.

I met Tsutomu Ogawa (Tom) on a holiday trip in Australia 1984 !

I know, a long time ago.

I have searched in Google Earth for “itimiyashi” but the Japanese signs made me confused.

wow thats a bit of a long time, i do not know if you can find him, i mean, that was 2 years before i was even born. and i am almost 22. i think you would have to go to japan and search, or find someone to search his name in a phone book maybe? He may not even be in the country anymore.

The city's name is Ichinomiya-shi, not Itimiya-shi.

Try the following:

Friend's name
1364 Tamano, Ichinomiya-shi, Aichi-ken, 494-0013 Japan

In case you want to use the phone, the fastest way would be to call your local telephone operator for assistance in international directory. You should be able to do this as you now have both your friend's name and address.
