Going to holland ^^

im looking for new dutch friends (mostly). I found my current boyfriend from world of warcraft and i would like to speak to people from holland that also has intest in japanese culture ^^.

Im gonna celebrate Sinterklaas for the first time, pretty exited by it.
I come from Sweden and i might after 2 years to move to Holland and start family with my boyfriend. So it would be good if i knew some dutch people more then my bf.

Im going to a small town named middelburg on 20/12-09 and going home in 22/01-10.

Hugs from Ito

Mortry 11-12-2009 06:20 AM

Sinterklaas is like... for the younger kids:smokingbear:
But I think it'll still be fun though, if you experience it for the first time:p
You should also come to the south of Holland and celebrate Carnaval with your bf. (Carnaval is somewhere in February)

For sinterklaas celebration.
I have bought cd with finnish classic music for my bf sis.
For Marien i have bought 3 white boxers, 1 black with patterns, one neckless with things on it plus a J for my name, A candle which smells strawberries and it sayes - you light up my day and two tops with no sleaves made of ecological cotton.
For the christmas game so far bought a candle that smells like gingerbread that sayes god jul, means marry christmas in swedish then im gonna buy something extra. One thingie from home is a funny teddy that looks like human, saying i love you.

Just about 4 weeks im going. today is me and my bfs 3rd month together :D .

If anyone wanna be friends with me just pm me ^^

minamo9 11-26-2009 09:00 PM

hey! im from holland ^_^

i live in groningen, wich is about 300 kilometers away from you ^^.

sinterklaas is pretty fun for children, it is a saint who gives presents to everyone, the children are always happy when the time arrives. its like x mas in other countries. (we have x mas to, but with less presents, sinterklaas empties the wallets here)

if you would like to meet you can mail me at [email protected],and i can show you around groningen or such. however it isnt to close to middleburg, but hey, thats like a abandoned place xD

either way i hope you have a great time in holland!

greetings,
Minamo (henk)

ps: careful with the coffeeshops:P

No, you got it all wrong... Sinterklaas isn't the Dutch christmas, it's just a winter
holiday figure...:p
Maybe this can help you understand:

yeah i know its diffrent but the idea is the same. sinterklaas is more original winter holiday. the christmas is more like made to fit chrisitianity more i geass.
i think sinterklaas means santa? if im right. just the american version is changed to a fat dude from north pole.

Aren't they delicious?:D
But I heard you can get cancer from eating it:eek:

NanteNa 12-12-2009 06:04 PM

Haha! They're AWESOME! : D my mom eats them all the time. Haha. We buy them as soon as Christmas season sets in around mid November.

Really? O_ô from what? If they gave people cancer I highly doubt that they'd be out on the market.

Mortry 12-12-2009 06:11 PM

Acrylamide is the thing that's in pepernoten and you can get cancer from... or so I've heard...
But you can get cancer from almost everything nowadays:smokingbear: So we don't really care about it

24th i wrote my poem to mariens sister laura and chilled.
25-28 was at mariens syster Cathelijne, we celebrated christmas in her new house, 2 dayes we helped her with the garden and painting in the house.
29-30 dec been all about chilling, got a cold the 28th. atchooo.

Not been there yet, i think it will be next week. also planning to go to movie and see avatar. i hope i understand some hehe seens i dont understand dutch yet. some words are thought simular to swedish. Also find houses here wierd. like the stares in the houses goes really straight up, in sweden its perfectly symmetric. Also Holland is really flat, been on train and seen parts of the country. Also good thing i think about Holland is that so many can english it was easy to fix my hair at the hair dresser.
I could think of living here in holland in nearest future, but it will be hard leaving my family but i feel im happy with my bf.
I will bring Breda upp wen i have been there.
Im getting better from my cold, feel now like a cat coughting up hairballz.
Tomorrow i will spend time with Marien and his father and he will show me around middelburg and tell about the history, he works with tourism. Then we will make home made pizza.
Happy new year :) hugs ito
