Favorite Painter?

Who is your favorite artist (Painter) I like de vincie. I dont know if thats how you spell it. Buuuut. What ever.

Eiri 12-06-2007 04:36 PM

I would go for Michael Angelo or Botticeli...... throw Monet in there too if you like

Suki 12-06-2007 04:52 PM

Ohh great idea for a thread!! I'm all into art =)

My favorite painter is Johannes Vermeer. In fact I like all the Dutch artists of the 17th century (Dutch Golden Age).

The Girl with the Pearl Earring , J. Vermeer.

View of Delft, J. Vermeer.

The Milkmaid, J. Vermeer.

Monet would be my 2nd favourite:

Claude Monet

Bridge over a Pool of Water Lilies, C. Monet.

Impression, Sunrise , C. Monet.

Le Jardin De l'Artiste, C.Monet.

Kisuke12 12-06-2007 04:53 PM

Mine would be Picaso.(I think I spelled his name right. )

I would have to say, Jan Van Eyck and Andy Warhol. Jan Van Eyck because he is amazing at details. Google Image results don't do him justice since most of his paintings are only around 3-4 inches tall. Andy Warhol for his simplicity.

William Turner

~ So awsome...

Sutiiven 01-30-2008 05:52 PM

Who

I would say Van Gogh or Rembrandt or Devinchi or any but i cannot really say i have a fav they all have some quite extraoridinary paintings.

kunitokotachi 01-30-2008 05:53 PM

Yeah the Sisteen Chapel is a great work of art.

Mine is Salvador Dali... The art is great and intellegent! I'm not a huge fan of Van Gogh though i live about 5 mins drive away from where he spent his last years and i also done my art project with his style... I'll post a pic up later!

I'm all into Romanticism now cause at History of Art class we're studying Caspar David Friedrich, Delacroix, William Turner, etc. I love how they get you enticed into the painting and you can actually feel all the energy coming from it and be absorved by the atmosphere created in between.

Wanderer above the Sea of Fog; Caspar David Friedrich

I went to the Dali Museum in Figueres (Catalonia, Sp) and took a guided visit to his home and studio :) He was nuts, seriously, his house makes about as much sense as his paintings

Actually it's spelt Da Vinci... But he is a very good artist...

I read approximately four books on Da Vinci and fell in love with his artwork...
Though there could be better ones... I like Da Vinci... He's old-school...

It's just impossible to choose just one for me. Here are a few of my favorite works and their artists.

Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh is my all time favorite, but it's the only painting of Van Gogh's I like.

Here are a few by Monet

Okay, his paintings have a deeper meaning behind the art itself, it's just that Surrealism isn't my thing and there's no way you can form an interpretation by just taking a look at them. One thing I like though is the melting clocks, the way he totally makes them look so soft:

The Persistence of Memory; Salvador Dalí.

But I'm more of a Baroque-ish type of person ^.^

Of course you can! I don't understand. lol. You would just interpret it in your own way. It might not be the same as what someone else might think, but it's still what you think it means.

Fav Painter

Well the sisteen chapel was quite amazing and so was other artists work.I think that some of the best of area was quite well showing throw how the painter was feeling .

Van Gogh for say if you get the chance check out stary stary night by don mclean it show van gogh's art and it explains quite a good view of what he was trying to say.

Rembrandt and several others are great as well i believe that there have been several greats from then to now. Do you all catch what they say through they're work pretty easily .For say what do you think was the best style of art.

Excessum 01-31-2008 08:27 AM

Hmm, it's hard to mark out a single painter, but i think i would go with Giovanni Antonio Canal a.k.a. Canaletto. I like his beautiful landscapes, photorealism and the representation of light and shadow he uses.

The Stonemason's Yard:

If you interpret it your own way you are not getting the message the painter wanted to convey through the painting

By the way, I took my Art History exam today, it was on Caravaggio and Bernini. I thought I would be asked to write about Vermeer's art, Velázquez', Rubens or Rembrandt... but NO, it had to be Bernini, geez -.-'
