That would be AWESOME!!!!!!!

It's a bit disrespectful to be walking all over graves taking pics...If I caught some kid snapping shots at my moms grave, I'd be pissed. Her grave is for me. Not for the net.
|
I have a couple places near my house that huanted and I've got a old asylum location they tore it down it's even in ghost books.

I've taken a few shots of gravestones myself. I did so because I saw the beauty and how well composed they were in respect for who lies beneath it. It wouldn't be fair to start circulating single images of graves over the new though. |

It's just if I could better understand the hobby of discussion, I could better sympathize - and make something productive out of it. Thanks anyway. :) |

Agrees with the others about the consent part or at least thank them for the pictures like Hya said.

I think looking & the pics are cool but I don't think I would ever go into 1 just to take pics!!!:coldbear: Kind of creeps me out. Well when I'm not sober I'd prolly do it. You should take some at night with a full moon just to get that cool professional photography look. |
nice pics..wow...* a lil scared* but remember ppl if ur gonna take photos of the deads grave pray before you do..some people call it disturbing..the deads rest.... so in case you disturb one dead person and get haunted...say a lil pray hoping they sleep well ..ok...i know it sound like a roll of crap ..but..just in case * ghost sensitive girl* :vsign:

Neat pics! Definitly different from the regular slab stones I've seen.
My father's is an iron plaque. Are these graves on a slight hillside? |
<sigh>
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother... Thank you for the people who said nice things... I'll remove the pictures... Might as well delete this tread... It's useless anyways... |
Coolnard didn't delete so......keep posting pics.....please.....kudasai......kudasai!

I've been wanting to go to the Normandy American Cemetery for ages x.O But... no one wants to accompany me :( I have been to many cementeries that honor American soldiers that fought in the WWII (in France, mainly) but this one doesn't compare, here are a couple of pictures:
![]() See the gravestones in the background? There're over 9.000. ![]() So beautiful. What an honor to be buried here. Ps- I like to visit cemeteries, I never thought of it as lack of respect towards the family of the deceaseds since I don't go there to do anything disrespectful. Besides, graves can be a work of art in themselves; when you take a picture of one you're not being rude to whoever is buried underneath, but responding with admiration to the artist’s talent. |
I just don't like people saying bad things about what I consider a art form in some respects...<sigh>...I've already deleted the pictures on the first page...
The only pictures that I have that won't offend anyone are of some flowers *boring* |
Waahhh! People can be so rude...*sigh*
Suki's pics....very symetric. I've never been to any of those.... |
I don't know what to do...
Normally I don't like hurting people's feelings so this is why it's so hard... |

MaymeRachael: I'm sorry I didn't comment before on those pictures, I think these were taken with poise and professionalism. Maybe deep down inside, I can imagine why you wanna capture the stillness of a graveyard atmosphere. Thinking about it somemore, graveyards ARE supposed to be still, lol :p Maybe that's why the pictures come as close to the real thing as possible, as compared to trying to accentuate the flight of a bird or swaying of the trees, etc. Just to add, no one has said anything impolite about your pictures Mayme; I'll punish them if they do xD So for goodness sake, stop assuming people being rude already  Edited: You took them off? You can put them back on, lol! >.< |
ahh u cant please every one the only person u should worry about pleaseing is YOU!! ok u like photos of graveyards take em! * just pray* and if u like taking photos of the deads resting place * same thing* but example a hotel area that is said to have had ppl killed there take the photos !! ahh

Thanks for the added support, guys!
So I may have over reacted a little ^_^' I just get deffensive sometimes over stupid things! NightChilde25 you asked where I took these? In a couple cementaries in Georgia... The other pictures of gravestones themselves...I actually had permisson to take thoes...they were in the backyard of some friends old plantation house... But the others...they were at a old Civil Church... |

And the big headstones are just commemorative stuff, it's the little white ones that have a dead corpse lying underneath, and the name of every American soldier who died in there is written on the gravestone, but now I'm thinking how hard it must have been for them to recognize the bodies so the name it says and the person buried probably don't always match. ![]() This is Lieutenant General McNair's gravestone. ![]() A view from above, that beach must be Omaha Beach, where the invasion started. |

Glad to see you put the pics back up. I missed them the first time. Very nice images. From a technical standpoint id give them some more contrast.
I have had a facination with old gravyards myself. Just something about the old ones. To see when an individual lived and died, and wondering what thier life was like. Back in college one of my photo assigments was to create a small photo book. I had read an article on an cemetary used by some of the first Spanish immigrants back in the 1840's. Its now a California State Historical landmark. Some of the graves are only marked with a homemade cross, and some headstones were crudley carved. Unfortunatly I dont have a scanner or I would post a few. I may have to make another trip out there. As far as people not liking the images, well not everyone is going to like everything. You sometimes have to be a little thick skinned. Again back in college I had a teacher who was very straight forward. If he didnt like your work he told you. On a few occasions he said my photos for a particular assigment were crap. He even once made someone cry. I had the utmost respect for him. He was pushing me and eventually I began to create my own style, which was his intentions. Over time he actually hired me as an assistant on some of his shoots. Even if you just do this for fun as a hobby. Dont let others dictate your creativity. Heres a shot I did awhile back. It was taken with infrared film. which is why the trees and grass look white. Gives it an erie effect. |
