"You Only Live Once" by The Strokes.

I will never get tired of this song; it holds a special place in my heart for it was the first song I heard from them. And just the whole meaning of it..with a thousand ways to do everything, why don't you just try them all? And that's what I would like to do with my life, try everything I can try ^^

The composer is Abel Fleury, from Argentina. Composed in the early 20th century, but from the tradition of cowboys in the plains. they were pushed into the cities, played in brothels. Thier "milonga" later developed into Tango. the best recording is Roberto Lara The Guitar of the Pampas. It's grreat for people who aren't so much into stuffy, uptight european classical, because it is tinged with indigenous rythms and forms, all warm from the new world. More accessible to the ear raised on pop music.

Paul11 08-26-2008 10:34 AM

I like the Scar Symmetry, too. sounds good for working-out.

Yes, I play south american classical and flamenco. I put down the electric about four years ago because it was boring playing alone. With solo guitar i get a hell-of-a challenge and I can play by myself.

Do it. No matter how far you go, it will enrich your life. Check out Roberto Lara Guitar of the Pampas. It's almost all of Abel Fleury's compositions.

Salvanas 08-26-2008 11:05 AM

This one is one that represents me.

High, upbeat, and non stop moving, with a mix of many styles.
