LOL @ pirate

SeeD do you use any programs for post processing/editing or just pretty much straight out of the camera with resizing?

SeeD 11-12-2008 08:15 PM

as far as my equipment goes:
Canon EOS 40D
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.2
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8

Looking to get rid of the 28-135mm and replace it with a 17-40mm L f/4 Ultra Wide Angle :D and also hoping santa brings me a flash for xmas.

Nice, for all my shots (here: Picasa Web Albums - Godwine - Japan - Octob...) I used my 40D with a 28-135 as well as a 15mm 2.8 Fisheye.

My other equipments:
EOS 5D
EOS XTI
EF 50mm f 1.4
EF 70-200mm F4L
EF 135mm F2.8 Soft focus
Tamron 28-70 F2.8
Sigma 18-55 F2.8
EF 16-35mm F2.8 II

I only shoot landscape with the 28-135, 28-70 and 70 200.. well also the 15 fisheye, the rest i only use for portrait and other stuff

i'm jealous XD

so many bodys! i wanna go full frame sometime in the future...still learning though! I'll probably go with the 70-200mm f/4L also for my telephoto, once i get some spare change :D can't afford the 2.8 or the IS

another topic to discuss:

what programs do you use for post processing?

i use:

adobe light room 2.1
adobe photoschop cs3

primarily just those two but i also use:

photomatix (for faux-HDR images)
noise ninja (for noise reduction)

I also use Aperture, but in general, I use Lightroom and photoshop mostly.. don't use noise ninja, never heard of photomatix, but will try it

lately i am also trying something in the mosaic side... prepping something for my own wedding...

You should look for a used 70-200 F4L, try craigslist, you can probably find a cheap one.. the same goes for a 5D... since the MKII's price is going up, its no longer something want :P

you already have the range coverd, but i'd suggest a

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS if you can afford it

and sell the 80-200 to partially fund it :D ;)

For cropped frame cameras I would suggest to also get a Tamron or Sigma 18-55 (17-50 for Tamron) F2.8.

The 70-200 F 2.8 L is nice and fast, but picture quality is actually not as good as the F4L IS because of the aperture shape. So you may want to consider that when you purchase your tele lens. F4L is a bit slower, but give you better image quality (partially also due to the largest setting being F4, but mostly because of its optics)

You probably will want to cover something between your 55-70 range as well eventually, but for now, you can just adjust your distance from the subject to cover that range.

the Tamron 28-70 F2.8 is an amazing lens, it was a film lens design for EOS film camera, so its a full frame lens (Effective about 44.8mm-112mm on the XTI or 40D), but its cheap. I paid like CDN$250 for it, the quality isn't that different from the Canon 24-70F2.8L

Back to Pictures :) So i posted the rest of my Japan trip stuff on the same picasa web site. The night shot sucks, my tripod was damaged on the second day because of one of my idiot friend playing with it, so I was running around with no tripid... and yes, I was too cheap to buy one while I was there last year.
