CrazyLee 11-13-2008 11:04 PM

What do you mean by 'got stolen'? Are we talking someone using the pics and saying that they'd done it or are you talking about people who get in touch with the artists and ask for permission to use there art for things (like avatars, banners, etc)?

kenmei 11-13-2008 11:05 PM

this is why god (photoshop) invented watermarks.

Word.

And I can't think of a soul who'd claim artwork of that poor quality as their own.

Was tempted to say that but it sounded over-the-top in my head.

i post it cuz i need advice on my art. Okay.well. It goes like this I worked real hard on a apple made with pastel in art class. And my art teacher told me to draw on in charcol so i did and i turned it in. A few weeks later the art teacher was asking me were my charcol drawing was. I looked on her table and saw my picture framed and it had this ugly fat boys name on it and I was like "thats mine" and the art teacher said that Hugo said it was his but in the end i got it back.

sakari09 11-20-2008 07:31 PM

I'm probably the best artist in my school...so no one here can say that they did something (and took mine) without me, or one of the staff knowing. The internet is a different story tho. (I mark everything that I do.)

All of this was about an apple? Who is Hugo and why didn't you hire Ninja to kill him?:D

sakari09 11-20-2008 07:51 PM

I would hire a ninja

ThirdSight 11-20-2008 08:05 PM

Um...

Copyright law?

Heard of 'em?

Oh, and watermarks. Those are handy too.

allie2590 11-20-2008 09:07 PM

If you find stolen artwork on DeviantArt, just press "report deviation" on the stolen piece. That's pretty much all you can do. Oh, and don't flame the person who you think stole the piece. That will just make things worse.

MissMisa 11-20-2008 09:10 PM

I don't give a crap if someone stole my art, until it actually gets to a quality that would be stealable I'm really not concerned about it.

Why would copyright a drawing? Since you aren't thinking of selling it, it's too much of a paper work for just a drawing.

On a random note, I made myself a new drawing...

What do you think? Pretty original, hum?
xD

You've actually got some pretty nice stuff, but you'd be surprised at what people will steal. :p

Thanks ~ Yeah I suppose. I just guess I wouldn't be as bothered as some people but that depends on the piece.

Exactly. The more work you put into a piece, the more upset you'll be if someone steals it from you.

CarleyGee 11-20-2008 11:46 PM

You can copyright your art... : /

Mikachii2202 11-28-2008 09:49 PM

Odin 11-28-2008 10:14 PM

 Yes, I've had it happen a couple of times now, with some poetry. Theft is the main reason I don't post much of my writing anywhere online. I can't hope to sell something that is already spread across the internet.
