Thoughts on wax crayons.

I've never tried colouring any of my own drawings before so I don't what to start messing about with. My friend who draws sometimes uses wax crayons... what are the pros and cons of using wax crayons.

Wax crayons are difficult to work with (harder to blend and do detail). But they can give you really cool texture. It's really similiar to coloring with colored pencils. LOTS of layers. Slowly build it up. If you're just starting out with color, I would recommend colored pencils over crayons. But please don't use anything with CRAYOLA written on it. It's definitly worth investing the money into getting a nice set of PrismaColor brand colored pencils. But if you just want to experiment with color to see what you like and don't like, then you can buy a cheaper set of colored pencils (or wax crayons) at an art store... that don't say CRAYOLA. All my opinions, but I hope that helps! ^^

Are there any other brand you would recommend? Prismacolor pencils are very hard to get hold of in the UK where I live from past experience.
