9 year old steals car in japan

Quote:

A nine year old boy has been arrested in Japan for stealing his parents car to visit his grandmother. And how, pray, does a nine year old kid learn to drive?

"It's my first time driving" he said, "but I learned from watching dad and playing at the video arcade."

Police in Gifu prefecture received a call on Monday morning from an anxious pedestrian who had seen a car apparently with no driver - the little sod was sitting on th every edge of the seat, strainingto reach the pedals and peer over the steering wheel.

The real question of course is What game did he practice on? Knowing if there are junior GTA players on the loose could be a very different prospect to under-age Mario Kart re-enactors.
lol. wow

SHAD0W 11-07-2008 12:18 AM

Wow! A japanese 9 year old can make it to his grans safely where over here 17 year olds can't drive for peanuts and are forever crashing into the saftey bollards in the carpark where i work.

Oh no! Was I drunk again!

allie2590 11-07-2008 12:56 AM

Wow... That's hilarious. That kid can drive better than me and I'm 18.

Aniki 11-07-2008 01:38 AM

So what, I'm three times older than that kid and I don't even know how to drive a car

Kitten160 11-07-2008 01:45 AM

Wow, that makes me feel really depressed because i am 23 and still didnt go for my license yet.

Aniki 11-07-2008 02:03 AM

Don't be. As you can see you're not the only one who doesn't have a drivers licence and I can bet there are more people here who are older than 20 and don't own one.

CarleyGee 11-07-2008 02:25 AM

Wow, that's interesting...
I don't think video games are the culprit here though.
I think disciplining you child enough to know that its
wrong to steal the car and drive off would be enough.

Sheesh...
Kinda funny at the same time though.

dougbrowne 11-07-2008 02:53 AM

God.. I hope the poor kid doesn't get into too much trouble for it.

That's when you know the Japanese can do anything.

ThirdSight 11-10-2008 04:58 PM

This is the best thing I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Ever.

Really? I figured it out a long time ago, when I realized that Japan was making fairly useless yet cute technological whatchamacallits and was still one, if not the, major leader in technology worldwide.

HE IS A 9 YEAR OLD! What will they do? Send the kid to jail for auto theft? He will get spanked, tops. And from my point of view, getting spanked for a car drive at the age of nine is a pretty sweet deal.

ThuMpeR 11-21-2008 11:56 PM

How sweet lol, driving to grandma's. I can see a family film being made based on this in the near future.

candioussays 11-22-2008 01:27 AM

i probably wouldn't even notice if a 9 year old was driving, everyone drives like they're blind and drunk here anyway.

SephirothVVC 11-22-2008 02:27 AM

Grandma must of been really cool if he was willing to steal a car to get there.
