Problem with friends
 

Helllo over there ~~
I just wanted to say that , i like japan and japanese music + games anime and such stuff but
there is a big problem : I have to hide that i have this japan love
because all my friend are hardcore guys D:
and so far so good BUT if they would find out that i´m such a "softy" they wouldn't talk with me anytime + they would laugh me out .
One reason I registerd me here is that I can talk here as I want :)
Do you also have such a problem ???

you are YOU-- You are entitled to take pleasure in Japan. If we all just follow friends and go their way rather than our own-- thats demonstrated that one feels insecure. why don' t you have the last laugh?

Do what you want to do-- and don't be scared of what so callled friends THINK.

Be strong.

what do you mean by "softy"? do they think it's childish or girlish? If so, they're just being prejudiced, cause there are many things of Japanese culture that can be appealing for different favours.

Real friends would not abandon you surely? However its up to you. Nothing to stop you having your interests what ever they may be. I guess you are talking about peer pressure.

Otherwise might as well all be robots who can't think for ourselves.

well, I don't share the same hobbies with most of my friends, however friendship doesn't have much meaning if you don't share your different sides - so you can learn from each other.

however, if you say so, you can just keep hiding it -at least untill you come across with friends that you can actually show your Japanese side :vsign:

inuyasha1989, I'm in the EXACT SAME SITUATION just like probably half the peeps here. LOL! I like the music, and I haven't said anything for a year. Yeah, it sucks, but keep your head up.

I don't know what I'm gonna do yet. I think I'll just keep it to myself. When my cousin got close to finding out yesterday, I about almost died. HAHAHa.

My problem is is that I listen to those damn cutesy wootsy idols that the hello project throws out there. If it wasn't for that I would be fine telling people. I mean, if I told someone, it would be like dropping a bomb on them.

hmm, I was in such a situation like this before..but I didn't hide anything..infact I kept telling everyone about my interests,Now I have a really big group of friends because of that XD, I think you should tell your friends too..because if you don't, it would look like you are pretending nothing less,REAL FRIEND LIKES FOR WHOM YOU ARE :D

My daughter was always scared to tell her friends that she did scottish dancing and played the piano and recorder. I guess its not wanting to be seen to be different-- but its a shame. I believe in sharing an interest-- you never know some of them might be secretly interested also.

We are all different after all and one mans meat is another mans poison as they say.

Its good to have a passion for something different from the run of the mill.

also the japanese art manga and anime is brilliant so why be ashamed that you admire it.?
