Spam, spam, egg and spam

Well, I've been lurking a little and lately this forum seems to suffer under an influx of spammers. I'm just wondering if there aren't any ways to prevent it from occuring quite that much.

reCAPTCHA!vB - Stop spam. Read books. - vBulletin.org Forum
I don't know if that works with this particular forum version (which, unless I'm mistaken, is pretty old) but you might want to look at it, or something equivalent.

And, uh, once the damage is done, I noticed that in the case of that one dumbass posting tons of racist and wannabe-shocking content, it took quite a while for it to be removed. Have you considered employing more moderators to "clean it up"?

(I'm not making this to nag or anything, just a suggestion. :) )

Apparently the admin deserted the forum.

Grr.. another load today..
I wish spammers would die in a fire. A slow one.

And what do you mean, deserted? Is there noone left with admin powers here?

The admin only drops in once in a long long long while. (2 or 3 times a year?)

Right now there are only two truly active moderators (Me and MMM), and another couple who are around once in a while.

We are not admins and can do little other than ban spammers and remove their posts. We have no means to improve spam blocking.

This whole 'Suggestion' section is useless since out of 3, NO! 4 (we've got a new one or so it's seems) admins none is active. JF is unique on that matter.

Keep dreaming on that reCAPTCHA.

So it would seem... ¬.¬

Doesn't anybody have any way of contacting them? There should at least be one admin that's at least partially active on the forum.. Maybe they could at least appoint a new admin?

Try PMing your idea to Shinjunku. When he'll show up maybe he'll into it, but I doubt it.

robhol, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

*whistle*

I'm not really sure how much point there is in posting this one, as it's rather hard to miss being all over 99% of the forum, but here goes.
