Some people might say "Japanese has no religion". It is wrong.

The religion is soaked into Japanese mind and became the culture.

Japanese people usually do not recognize their behavior is based on the religion.

For example, Japanese will say "ITADAKI MASU" at the start of the meal meaning "thanks for the lost lives for our meal". And Japanese will say "GOCHISO SAMA" at the end of meal meaning "thanks for the effort for our meal".

Also, Japanese people hesitates stepping on or stepping over something (or person). It could be also based on religion.

Simply speaking, religion in Japan would be summarised as "keep having respect to the things and people around one". If you find some too polite behavior in Japanese manga, it might be based on religion.

Language makes Culture and Culture makes Language.
