TalnSG, where do buy your umeshu from?
Almost anywhere I come across it.

The first time was at Whole Foods (major mainstream U.S. organic market). I was actually looking for a good Port, but since I already loved umeboshi paste, and even cheap plum wine, the bottle of Choya with its plums caught my attention.

I have probably bought most of it in a little liquor store next to this korean sushi bar in town. Their food is ok and their karaoke machine is on its last legs, but there is no corkage fee and they are open as long as there is customers. The store next door sells enough choya and various sakes that he keeps them stocked in the cooler for taking next door.

My sushi group really appreciates the fact that I don't like getting totally wasted, because I always make sure to share it with everyone around just so that I don't drink it all myself. I found out the hard way that if you keep putting it in reach, I will keep drinking it till I can't lift glass/bottle anymore.
