Even as a business, WoW is a big, big business. Yielding a large sum on money, opening the paths to creators to work with Machinima.

You're actually right there, there's a good amount of people that are surprisingly well off that you wouldn't think even have touched an MMO in their lifespan. And then there's the cliche's, who fulfill every last one of your presuppositions about gamers until you feel the distinct urge to bash you head against a wall for a certain amount of time.
Though the best part about playing any sort of MMO that has voice chat features or compatibilty is hearing a woman speak whilst your group is doing your thing, and waiting ever so patiently for someone to point out that there's a girl in the party and to freak out. It hasn't happened, and most likely never will, but a guy can dream right?
