Cultural differences are much like generational differences. They can be legitimate sources of conflict in a relationship. They have to be acknowledged and both parties have to come to an agreement on how to deal with them. But all too often its easier to call it quits and use it as an excuse instead of dealing with the issue.

Fortunately a serious cultural difference that reared its ugly head last week in my current relationship proved to me that when we want to overcome cultural, age and even language differences it can be done. It just takes a lot of understanding and careful examination of the potential impact.

Only an open mind and open heart can be filled with life.
