This will probably give away my age but I was a computer geek back in high school.

I'd bring my essays printed out on my fathers 9-pin dot matrix printer and people would marvel at it. I explained that I printed it out on my fathers Heathkit (which I helped him assemble) using a program called Wordstar and people cracked up.

I would spend my lunch breaks in the computer room creating Basic programs on the TRS-80's and years later, I would preach to my non techie friends about a huge global network where every computer could talk to each other. Of course they laughed at that concept back then.
