Behaviour in Public - 07-02-2010, 03:59 PM

I wonder if it is seen as wrong or bad manners to demonstrate feelings in JAPAN. Such as a young couple, is it okay for them to hold hands in public?

My japanese friend says it is not japanese way to HUG in Public or to show affection to another person.

She is very anti any demonstration of affection-- yet often tells me that other foreign students at her school from places like SPAIN or France are very touch feely.

DID anyone see that youtube video of hugs around the world?

Our son showed it to me and it was rather pleasant.

I am fussy who I hug but wonder if it is frowned on in JAPAN or elsewhere come to that?
