Just FYI,

The orthodox summer letter in Japan begins with;
暑中お見舞い申し上げます
しょちゅうおみまいもうしあげます

It is as ordinary as "A happy new year" or "Mary Christmas!".
I strongly advise you to use this phrase in your letter.

After 10th, August, you should change it a little as ;
残暑お見舞い申し上げます
ざんしょおみまいもうしあげます
