Looking for a japanese girl-friend -

Hello,
I am a 21 years old college student in NY, and looking for a japanese girl to be friends with and hang out together sometimes to see where it goes. I am very interested in Japanese culture and find people from Japan very interesting and usually with good education.
So, I am trying to get to know more an asian girl to see if it could lead to a serious relationship. I very much hope it will.
Any advice?
