Yes, I think you can say there is some link between Japanese names and meanings, with Kanji meanings in between. I can also say their meanings are usually rather abstract (at least I think so).

As for turkish culture, I hear Turkish language is somewhat similar to Japanese.. I don't know whether it's true or not, I'm interested :-)
