I'm was just concerned about poor asuka, when first viewing end of evangelion. So did she die... or was she merged with misato and rei as so many believe? I've also heard that it was merely a delusion on shinji's part... but i've never had complete closure.

Nagisha Kaworu is an Angel, right? So... does that mean that Ayanami Rei is an Angel too?

What is strange is that in episode 1 when Shinji is waiting for Misato to arrive, he sees an uninjured Rei who suddenly disappears. When he arrives at Nerv HQ he first meets the injured Rei who can barely move... Very odd.

Also I don't think anyone actually 'dies' at the end of Evangelion. They just all merge into a single entity (which is possibly the sea of LCL). In the last 2 episodes all the major characters appear, though they don't have a physical body, they still exist in some form. It's suggested that they can will themselves back into physical existence, but I can't see how characters can merge with other characters in the physical form.

I've seen both, but I prefer End of Evangelion where Asuka and Shinji are the only ones "alive", so to speak.

What about the new movie? "Rebuild of Evangelion". When it goes out? And is Anno Hideaki the director? 'Cuz if he's not then the new movie won't be like the others...
