Higurashi live action movie

I watched the trailer, I dont really know what to expect lol. They are not trying to cover the story , they are only using arc 1 as a horror movie, I guess. 10th May..

I was sooo upset when I found out the director was Ataru Oikawa. I honestly think he's the least talented horror director currently working in Japan. If anyone can screw up Higurashi it's him. The only good thing about him directing is it may mean that Higurashi will follow the same path that Tomie did (they made a 8 films all by diffrent directors starting with Ataru Oikawa, well, actually he did creat 2 more instalments into the sereis but not until after other, more competend directors got their chance to direct). Unfortunatly, Onikakushihen is very probably ruined.

By the way what do you mean "make into horror?" It was intended to be horror to begin with.

I think higurashi is more like conspiracy,mystery than horror. Hes a bad director? awwww. thats bad...

I guess the genre did kind of very from arc to arc. I always thought of the question arcs as being primarly horror, and the answer arcs being a little more mystery/conspiracy (not that there wasn't plenty of that in the question arcs just that they played out a little more horror-esque).

And yeah, from what I've seen by him his films are pretty boring and stupid. Although, I think most of what I've seen by him was direct to vidio so maybe he's better with theatrical works. We'll see, I guess.
