I highly recommend Detective Conan (Case Closed). I don't understand why it's not popular in the US, it's huge in Asia, well at least it was. I grew up reading Detective Conan.

Another very good manga is Candy Candy. I looked all over Tokyo and could not find it. This manga is out of print, and the used ones are being sold at hundreds of dollars. You can find the English scanlations on the internet, but the quality is not really good.

Mmmmm anime raccomandation well it depends of what you like best ... I can say what I think is a very nice anime in the current season :

:lovecat:All Out! is a very nice spokon genre seinen, even if I'm more for shoujo and shounen but this is a very nice anime indeed.

And about manga .... weel I'm currently reading Arslan Senki ... Arakawa works are always great ! I like so much her drawings .:)
