Wanted: Recommendations for movies.

Here are some details;
  • I'm a man that can't watch horror movies, due to the reason I DO get scared.
  • I don't like gorey films too much. Stuff like Saw and the such, no thanks. They bore me.
  • I enjoy comedies.
  • I enjoy action.
  • I enjoy adventure.
  • I sometimes enjoy romances.
  • I love martial arts films.
  • I love asian films alot too.
  • I love fantasy.
  • I don't mind thrillers.
  • Chic-fliks bore me.
  • Love some Mafia films

It can be a mix of any of the genres I like.

Recommend away! ;)

CarleyGee 09-24-2008 10:23 PM

Not sure if this is a perfect recommendation and I'm sure you've seen it, but

Scarface

was the first that came to mind ^_^
not sure if that's too gorey either.

EDIT:

The Shining

was a good mind-thriller movie...

Sheesh, all I have are old movies.

emmygirl121 09-24-2008 10:24 PM

The invisible is a recent one that is quite good :)

its not horror but there is one death scene, also it is a book

I bet you have seen all the lord of the rings, but those are super good !

Salvanas 09-24-2008 10:25 PM

I can stand most gore. But when it's taken to the extremes I just find it tacky.

Scarface, I haven't watched that yet. I'll check it out.

0_0 That's like a must-see.
Hope you enjoy it!

EDIT:

Really, It is a Classic.

Bureda 09-24-2008 10:26 PM

Mama Mia
Dark Knight
Right to Kill

emmygirl121 09-24-2008 10:27 PM

If you haven't seen JUNO

It is comedy, and some drama at the same time, it isn't really a chick flick, some male humor grossed me out 0.0

the book ended exactly opposite of the movie, so its not really the same, they changed the movie so much nothing but the concept stayed the same,

I read the book before the movie and liked the movies plot better

Uriko 09-24-2008 10:29 PM

LOTR - MY friend drilled the films into my head multiple times. He loves them.

The man from Earth... i think you are smart enough to understand it's brilliance.
Equilibrium... somewhat a mix between 1984 and Matrix... one of my all time favorites.
Never Back Down... a rather new movie about a guy who gets caught up in underground MMA fights... martial arts, comedy, romance, a tad of philosophy and so on.

I've heard that a new action/racing movie called Death Race which comes out over here in the UK tomorrow in cinemas and which has been advertised on TV a lot lately is supposed to be pretty good, if you're into that kinda movie :)

Aye, I've been craving for some type of... asian films.

I watched a couple of Steven Seagal films last night, like Into the Sun and Out to Kill. The films might be bad, and Steven MIGHT be a bad actor. But that doesn't matter. Steven Seagal doesn't NEED to act in films. Pure amazing.

Watched all of those darling ;)

Arnie and Steven are pure classics. Just like Chuck Norris. You don't go to an Arnie/Seagal movie and go "That's an amazing story line". It's always "Holy shit, I loved the part where he pulled the enemies spine out with his pure hands!"

Thanks SGT!

Aniki 09-25-2008 11:10 PM

Here are some non-American films.

1: Run Lola Run
2: Das Experiment
3: Das Boot
4: Leon
5: Angel-a
6: Butterfly
7: Open Your Eyes
8: City of God
9: Ruang Talok 69
10: Hana Bi
11: Zatoichi
12: Joint Security Area
13: Old Boy
14: Volcano High

^_^

I remember being in the back of the house and listening to my parents watch it.
I thought they kept repeating the same scene cause that music is just so . . .
ARGH!!! I heard it's a great movie though.

hahaha.
