I give everything a chance. If I like it, it's good; if I don't, it's not.
However, I couldn't limit myself to just specific genres. I prefer to judge song-by-song.

I listen to a lot of Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock and Reggae. It does depend on the mood or the enviroment I'm in.

... As for favorite artists, there's too many to name. And I wouldn't try... lest I shamefully forgot someone.

Used be really into Hip Hop until aroun '04/'05 when all the lyrics ended up being the same shit, ie 24" chromes, hangin' in da club, drugs, boats, money, guns, and of course girls

After that I've been really into Trance and Progressive. Favourite DJs are Armin Van Buuren, Aly & Fyla, Signalrunners and Dash Berlin. Dutch people might recognise some of these names

As far J-pop goes, Yui, Hiki, Mell, Orange Range and a few others I cant remember the top of my head.

I'm mainly into rock subgenres ;P, like punk rock, hard rock and some heavy metal. Though I like a few alternative rock songs.

Artists? No doubt, one of those is Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day's singer... he's the main contributor in the songs, he makes awesome lyrics (all songs lyrics are by him except in some rare cases). Though lately he changed to pop rock, I still am a big fan of him. Next album is gonna be power pop, never heard of such a genre but I'm looking forward on May (album called "21st Century Breakdown"... more lyrics awesomness).

Also I'd like to mention Axl Rose and Slash. I'm one of those types who likes Axl voice. No matter how much a douchebag he is, he's got talent... he is the main composer of "Don't Cry" and "November Rain" and he insisted on 'Sweet Child O' Mine" even if Slash didn't like to continue. While Slash is a great guitarist, as well all know. IMO he's one of the few to give the guitar an orgasm when he plays...

I also listen to Metallica, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Sex Pistols, System of a Down (love the vocals).

And o.o Katy Perry LOL... idk I just like her songs and voice. Anyone agree?

What i like to listen to depends on the mood im in ,when im feeling normal/happy i like Arctic monkeys, Miyavi, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Red hot Chili peppers, Electric eel shock, Bloc party, Horse the band and so on.

But then again when im somehow down/angry i use to listen to other stuff like Nargaroth ,tool, Volbeat, Dir en Grey, Mudvayne, Absurd, 100DeadRabbits..

I also have certain Songs which i used to listen to when ive had hard times, and when i listen to them it really brings back memories.
