sorta not MMM - 01-22-2009, 12:18 AM

Look at your Andy Barr article post dated as 11-05-08' and the CNN Politics article posted date of 11-06-08' and realize the Andy Barr article is using earlier data which is incorrect. The CNN Politics article is dated day after with more complete and accurate voter turnout numbers.

does it matter how close the election might have been, one person won and he was sworn in already.

“A downturn in the number and percentage of Republican voters going to the polls seemed to be the primary explanation for the lower than predicted turnout,” the report said. Compared to 2004, Republican turnout declined by 1.3 percentage points to 28.7 percent, while Democratic turnout increased by 2.6 points from 28.7 percent in 2004 to 31.3 percent in 2008.

If you would like to spread the notion that the presidential 2008' election was a watershed event at least check your facts and political culture since historians like Howard Zinn 'A peoples history of the United States' and Noam Choamsky 'Manufactoring Consent' among others completely argue otherwise.
That is because alot of people that were republicans changed at least to independants. and people who considered themselves independants got out and vote, some moved to democrats. It's the way of the people agreeing with obama's policies.

Wikipedia gives the difference in popular vote between Obama and McCain at 69,456,897 to 59,934,786 -- a difference of almost 10 million votes.
