Kiwi going to Japan needs some advice! - 03-06-2009, 01:30 PM

Hi all. I'm a 33 year old Kiwi guy currently living in Melbourne Australia.
I'm in the last stages of my application with Aeon to teach English in Japan. I would like any advice from anyone who has lived / worked / working in Japan, on the best places to live and the various ups and downs, etc. I will be trying to save as much cash as I can whilst in Japan so am conscious of the living expense in the bigger cities like Tokyo. I have heard and read good things about Kobe, Nagono, Osaka and Fukuoka. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Is Aeon letting you choose where you live? I thought they assigned you to where they needed you.

As far as what I know they do give you some choice. Apparantly they give you 3 choices : where you want to teach, age you want to teach and when you would like to go.
